Health Council requires stricter rules for (semi) permanent makeup
The Health Council argues in an opinion for stricter rules on (semi) permanent makeup.
1. Training For (semi-) permanent makeup to run, there is a proper education is needed. Besides initial and beauty is a special education in (semi) permanent make-up, similar to the mandatory training for practitioners of tattooing and piercing. It should be to focus on infection and bleeding risks, hygiene, dyes, etc.
2. Hygiene The hygienic requirements for tattoo should also be applied to (semi) permanent makeup.
3. Detatouage Given detatouage usually done with laser or IPL devices-devices that deeply affect the skin, the Superior Health Council recommends this treatment to only be performed by a specialist physician or under strict supervision and responsibility of a physician.
4. Dyes Given these are products that are inserted into the skin, the Superior Health advocates provide that the products not only meet the regulations for cosmetics, but also more specific regulations for tattooing and (semi-) permanent makeup . There may indeed problems with the sterility of the products. Moreover, these dyes are toxic. European legislation sets a number of obligations and safety criteria and determine a priority list of banned products. This European legislation is not yet transposed into Belgian law.
5. Control What controls by the authorities, the Health advocates for regular inspections of beauty salons, which are checked for the following aspects: used products, infrastructure, education, informed consent.
