Huge spider robot provides assistance in disaster areas

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute have developed a very special robot. Namely a robot in the shape of a spider. And the researchers have made every effort to ensure that the robot really moves like a spider.

Disaster area
The robot must be in the future to work in such disaster areas. With its eight legs, the robot easily without falling debris on climbing.

Pushing and pulling
The robot is moving forward because his front legs pulling him forward and back legs push him. The robot extends its legs because fluid is pumped. All electronics are in the belly of the spider. Optionally, the animal also be equipped with sensors and a camera.

The robot was created using a 3D printer and can be produced cheaply. The researchers see the robot already disaster areas to explore. The creeping spider with eight-inch legs go where humans and robots on two legs or wheels can not. Whether that is really a comforting thought?
