New material provides particularly long light
Scientists have developed a material that after one hour exposed to sunlight, two weeks of light.
The material does not just light, but near-infrared light. Its light is seen only with special equipment.
New
Material that emits light so is not new. What is new is that after such a short exposure to sunlight as long as light can give. Normally, the material within milliseconds whether the near-infrared light. But researchers stabbing a stop to. They created a maze where the light through. This takes longer for all the material emits light.
Charging
The beauty of the material is that it is not even in full sunlight have to do to recharge. It may also be in the shade and even underwater light collecting.
Army
Researcher Zhengwei Pan and his colleagues describe the particular material in the journal Nature Materials . They are convinced that the material mankind in many ways to serve. Initially, the researchers primarily in military applications. Thus the material can be stopped in paint. Soldiers can then paint these buildings mark and know people with equipment that is visible near-infrared light which building ‘suspicious’ or even ‘safe’. But there are more possibilities. Nano particles of the material could also be adapted so that they bind to cancer and the disease can be easily detected.
Finally, also developers of solar panels to learn something from this research. For these researchers can collect sunlight very well, and prolonged storage. Two skills that many solar panels have not yet mastered.
