Photohop CS5: Content Aware Fill
Photohop CS5: Content Aware Fill
Content Aware Fill is one of the most talked about new features in Photoshop CS5. It is less magical than Adobe us did believe but it’s one of those innovations that can save you lots of time. The results are certainly not always good but in bad cases it will be a great tool. In this first tutorial you’ll learn all about CS5.
First an example of Content Aware Fill perfect (almost) works.
In this picture I want the man completely.
Step 1: Make a selection
Make a quick selection of the part you want to delete. In this case it is done with the Lasso.
As you can see, the selection is very coarse, and that is good enough for this photo.
Step 2: Customize Content Aware Fill to
Press Shift + F5 and choose Content Aware Fill
Photoshop will now just need some time to calculate and this is the result.
Content Aware does not always produce the same result.
The result is not good? Then go one step back (Ctrl + Z / Mac: Cmd + Z) and press Shift + F5 again, which you can try a few times and you will see that there are many differences.
Here you see the difference in result with the same selection just put a step back and re-Content Aware Fill done.
The selection will be much difference.
Sometimes good enough is, even roughly, in other cases, the correct selection Fri.
again with the same picture as above. First with a roughly, then with a pretty accurate selection.
Conclusion
As you can see the first photo provides Content Aware Fill some photos an amazingly good result. In the second example is itself at best the result is significantly worse. But when you consider that only a few minutes is ready it will still be the big time savings for first Content Aware Fill to apply and then use the clone stamp or other tools to further work.
To end a nice example of the strength of Content Aware Fill. The tattoo in this picture is almost perfectly removed. Here you are good to fill not just Photoshop CS5, but succeeds in the skin structure is pretty sharp.
